An online modern meet-cute was the catalyst for Merritt Thomas and Robert Wagner’s ensuing nuptials. After an evening out for a 15-course molecular-gastronomy dinner, Robert, a law professor, took Merritt home and proposed over a cheese plate and a bottle of dessert wine. “It was extremely romantic and sweet,” remembers Merritt.
The romantic journey culminated in a stunning wine-country wedding at Bear Flag Farm. “I wanted it to be elegant, but extremely relaxed and not at all stuffy,” she says. To keep things lively and warm, Merritt incorporated bright autumn jewel tones of deep purple, magenta, apricot, orange, and green that lit up the venue.
“I like to live my life colorfully,” says the bride of their hot hues. “For our wedding, I wanted a color palette that would be unique and reflect our fun easygoing nature, and I was drawn to bright colors but colors that reflected the autumn-season.”
To achieve the vision, Merritt gave her florist, Anna Hoffmann Farley of Loop Flowers + Event Arts, control, and she did not disappoint. “we were completely blown away. I was taken aback by how beautiful, free-flowing and organic all of the arrangements looked,” says Merritt. “They were exactly what I had hoped for, and the colors were just perfect: bright and in season.”
